For the second year running, the band was invited to play at the Sydney Road Street Festival, the opening event for the Brunswick Music Festival. After a vicious thunderstorm on the previous evening and a strong rain shower on Sunday morning, we were a little concerned about the fate of this outdoor event. But by late morning the sky had cleared and the usual crowd of about 40,000 people crowded the street in the afternoon to watch and listen to a wide variety of musical performances (and buy a mountain of stuff from the street vendors).
Once again the band played under the arches at the entrance to Brunswick Town Hall, and attracted the largest audience at this venue during the day. The sound under the portico and the vibrancy of the audience all contributed to a spirited performance from the band in which we were all pleased.
