Sunday 4 March 2017, Alexandra 150 Years, Alexandra

From its beginnings as a small gold-mining town in 1867, Alexandra has grown into the largest town in the Murrindindi Shire, and so for two weeks they threw a big 150th birthday party, starting with a music festival on March 4th, with Pans on Fire playing several sets during the day.

The colour theme for the weekend was Gold & Red to remember the gold-mining history of the town and the previous name of the town (Red Gate) before 1867, and so everyone joined in with the theme, some members of the band carrying it to extremes.

After we finished one of our sets, the next performer was local singer Jacko, who played bass in Pans on Fire at the 1st Australasian Steelband Festival in Marysville in 2013. What a difference fours years makes!
