Sunday 17 November 2013 - Marysville Marathon, Marysville (#79)

For the third year running, steel pan music was an integral part of the Marysville Marathon Festival held at Gallipoli Park, the scene of this year's Australian Steelband Festival. This year, a combined band of Pans on Fire, Hot Pans and Jammin' kept the runners and spectators entertained for nearly two hours, spread over two sets. Clearly, the Marathon is attracting a new set of runners each year, as many people came up to the band during and after the sets to ask about the pans and tell us it was the first time they had ever heard steel pans played live.
