Saturday, Sunday 26-27 September 2015 - PANZfest 2015, Brisbane (#124)
We reached Brisbane on the evening of Thursday 24th September and settled into our various accommodations before practice sessions during the Friday. Saturday morning saw the public start of PANZFest 2015 at West End State School, with Hot Pans and Pans on Fire being the first two bands playing in the Panorama Playoffs.
The first song performed by Hot Pans was a classical number entitled Pizzicato Polka.
They then moved into a swing standard, Chattanooga Choo-Choo.
They finished off with their Calypso number, Raga Poom Poom.
Next up were Pans on Fire.
They started with their newest song, Africa by Toto, arranged for steelpan by our visitor from the USA, Steve Lawrie.
They then did their Calypso number, Pan Earthquake.
They finished off with one of their favourites, Moliendo Cafe.
At the end of the day, Pans on Fire placed 5th in the Panorama, while Hot Pans placed 6th in a field of 12.
